legend has it some crazy guys in australia have a time of around 8.5 seconds for the 1/4 mile (in a subaru). but I'd say under 12 seconds is doing ok

rumour is wrong, however the world's quickest is from australia. Vic Elfes from the state of New South Wales has run a 9.40@147mph.

In road and track when they featured the 2004 STI the editor said when he drove in it he drove it in 8.0 flat without changing anything
