STi Owners....rattles/squeeks?
I got my STi Thursday of last week and it's been a blast so far. But I've noticed that while driving recently, even I smooth pavement there are a couple very slight, yet noticeable squeeks/rattles coming from various places. Is this completely expected out of a car like this after just a few days? Or is it out of the ordinary?

My glove box squeaks and there is a trunk monkey in the back that rattles{jack?}. I am having a stereo put in Wednesday......PROBLEM SOLVED!
I am not even going to the dealer. I would probably get it back in worse shape.

There was a rattle coming from between the center bezel/glovebox. Today i took the bezel off and i noticed that there's a wire with a plug or something at the end thats just kinda hanging there. When it first rattled my friend pressed the center bezel around that location and it stopped, so it might be worth your time to take the bezel off and tape that plug to the inside of the dash or something.

Well, i think most of us are buying the car for the performance....aside from that the only peep i've heard from the car is the turbine and the crazy road noise *THUNK THUNK THUNK*

Rattles expected says Subaru Rep
Service Manager at dealership in Bassett, Va. told me that the Subaru Rep. told him that the car was built for racing, not street driving, and that there were going to be many bumps, rattles and squeaks.
He was told that if someone came in with an STI complaining of noises not to even waste him time trying to locate and stop the noises. Just to inform the owner of the expected noises.
I think Hummer has the right idea, get a good stereo

I got some rattles too around the center console and somewhere around the top left and right dash board, glove box, etc. But the suspension is stiff and no stereo yet, plus I can only hear it when the AC is on, when the windows are down you can't hear them. My last car was an 01 VW Jetta, it was much worse. rattles, and even sounded like the frame was creaking.

Just picked up mine last Saturday and only have 340 miles on it, but so far, just normal noises. I had a WRX and my impression is that the STi evidences the same great quality construction.

My ash tray rattled like crazy when shut at first. I simply removed it and problem solved. I later sprayed a bit of "dry lube" on the tracks and that fixed it 100%. Other than normal NVH things are quiet.
When I hard-wired my V1, I crawled up under the dash and I did do my typical "cleanup" of the wiring harness. Namely move the harness away from the footwell area and zip-tye everything securely. There are some loose connectors that could easily cause rattles hiding up under the dash, and nothing ticks me off more than having any wires/etc. nipping my toes around the pedals.

Just hit 1000 miles yesterday. Not one sound!!! The car is great. My 2000 RS had squeaks and rattles galore. Not the STi.

There is a term for that...
Decreased comfort, increased Noise, Vibration, and Harshness. This car is not for everyone.
