Hi Janq,
Great story, I really appreciate you share that with all of us. I am constantly trying to make that decision myself.
May I ask how old you are now? My guess is 24+8............ Am I close?
Just wanting to make smarter decision for my own life.
Thank you.
Take care.

yes archman,
if u want a family car i suggest u just get the 04' wrx wagon, its a nice ride and enough room to fit ur wife n kids and smoke people at the same time.. yet... u say u can soup up ur 350 or G35 to smoke the sti..? honestly u are older than me and i respect my elders, im only 20, anwways honestly id rather start off with the sti, its base hp is 300 base torque 300. u can't smoke that if i souped up the sti vs ur souped up G35 or 350Z, my souped up sti would win =), so i suggest if u wan go fer speed and performance t he STi is the way to go, because souped up STi vs souped up any car will lose, thats just my belief.
everyone keeps saying they will buy a car(WRX)(350Z)(G35) that is cheaper than the STi and soup it up to smoke the STi... but have you guys thought about the guy who bought the WRX STi? he can soup his STi up also

As for making these life decisions this stuff is hard & tough.
One thing I do know for sure though is that one has to do right by ones self. An old man once told me that years ago, but it took me over a decade to understand what he was saying.
Anyway, enough blah blah talk.
Lets get back to vroom, vroom, vroom!
Something I have been thinking about, G35 or STi or even my Pilot, is getting one of those 'scissor' style door hinge kits. I'm seeing those around now and they are sick. Any of you tuner guys know how hard/easy & costly it is to install one of these? Also, can it be done on a 4-door vehicle? How well do the stock door seals work with these kits? Oh, and what about structural rigidity of the chassis?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

No disrespect but I'm an 'Elder' too (I hated to say that!) and I can tell you from a working knowledge, the winner of a modified STi versus modified G35 is determined by the 'Golden Rule'.
I could be racing a '71 Vega or a '78 Monza or an '88 Hyundai Excel 4 speed with the A/C on 'Max Defrost' against an STi with mods and as long as my pocket linings are deep enough, I'll win every race I enter street or strip. Thats all. Thats it. End of story.
Its been that way forever since the days of yore when fast meant you could out pace a real horse or have a 'top end' over 110 mph.
The 'Golden Rule' is basically a precept that as applied here states the driver/owner with the most money to spend on power wins the race.
A fast reacting driver + shallow pockets = LOSE
A slow reacting driver + deep pockets = WIN
A fast reacting driver + deep pockets = OWNS
Seeing as my C&D has still not arrived I stopped by the local maga stand today to check it out. While persuing the stand I came across some tuner mag with a red WRX sedan that on the cover stated it could do 9's in the 1/4 and was the "Worlds Fastest WRX". I didn't read the article but I can only imagine the cabbage the owner must have dropped into that car to make it so quick & fast.
But hey if you're livin' Bill Gates stylez', big pimpin' and checkin' traps for ho's, then you got the gold to slow anyones roll.
With that gold you too can rule.

Then nobody wins and its the wife that owns.
BTW, I'd never put $20K into a $32K car.
But I would put $52K into a Z06 and never lose.

If I hit the lottery though, I'd be making a visit to my local Porsche dealer and pick up one of these;
I'd own every street from Home Depot to Kindercare and Blockbuster.
