STI Engine Already Maxed Out?
I apologize for the lack of proof, but I guess the answer is that I have to ask this quick before I go eat:
Anyway, I read somewhere about some company that already had their hands on a UDSM Impreza STI for 6 months, and they said that the 2.5L engine is horrible. They said that the engine is pretty much already maxed out, and that they were not capable of getting much more power out of it before it "blew".
Now I'm not trying to start anything, I seriously love WRX's and the new STi's but I'm just curious to know if any else has heard this. Now I'll come back on later or something and try and remember where I heard this, so you guys don't start flaming me. Later.

Thats that nutty post on some other forum with some idiots who think they had USDM engines and show a pic of the engines too, only that they are all JDM STI engines
Its totally fake Khryz, there have already been posts about the subject.

<yawn> Fabrication/flame-baiting. If it was true, then what's the name of the company? I know the answer won't be forthcoming so I'll unsubscribe to this thread after I post.
Have a great day.

He heard it in an SRT forum. THey were bashing the STI for no reason. Their proof that they had the engine was pics of about 20 JDM 2.0 STI motors and trannys. The 2.0 STI engine is capable of handling over 500hp without issue. The USDM is bigger and beefier and has a reinforced head. It should handle even more.
Oh those guys. The seem very well informed on the WRX
. Sonds like just bashing to me. Maxed out? I'm no super tuner, not even a really good shade tree, so my knowlege about what level of power possible is somewhat limited to what I have read. There are people out there squeezing out 400+ Hp fairly reliably out of one of Subaru's older 2.5 L open deck blocks. I would think the whole of Subaru would be capable of desinging a new 2.5 L semi-closed deck block capable of holding at least that level of power. I know those people are using better rods, pistons and bearing than the original 2.5 L block they stated with. They might have even closed the deck with welds or dowells. STi is doing that very same thing with probably a slightly larger research budget, possibly just a slightly larger knowlege base and maybe with just a smidgen more testing.
