Insurance Information-Good stuff!!!

just wanted to let you guys know some real numbers so you might be able to gauge how much the premium on your new STI might be.....I called my insurance agent today to get a quote, right now I have a '99 2.5 RS, paying $1210 for the yr.....some background, I am 25, with a good driving record in MA...for the people who are familiar with MA, I am a step 13...when I asked the agent I am looking at the 2004 WRX STI, they came back with a quote for a 2004 turbo WRX....now this can mean one of 2 things...they don't have the STI #'s yet or they will be taking insurance rates for the STI from the WRX!!! which is what I am hoping and what seems to be the case here...anyway, they gave me a quote for only $1486 for the year!! hopefully this is a helpful post and hopefully this is an accurate quote for me!!

nope, that is with the same coverage I have on my current RS, which is $500 deductible on Collision and Comprehensive and $20k/person, $40k/accident for damage and coverage for uninsured, plus $100k for bodily injury, etc.....basically full coverage, I do get a small discount for AntiTheft and airbags, which will apply to my new STI

I spoke to my agent the week I ordered mine (the week after the detroit auto show). At that time they had no info on ANY 2004MY. I have a good relationship with my agent due to having swapped on and off so many cars over the years. Anyhow, based on his estimates he expects it to be roughly the same as a regular WRX. The other reason is that it is a WRX. Kind of like how my CRX was no more to insure than the same model year 4 door civic, since they were both civics. Another reason for this is that fact that WRX premiums are high across the board. He claims people in my age bracket (25) with Mercedes Benz's pay less for the same coverage as a WRX. Anyhow, My estimate was for around $1600 a year, but I carry higher levels of coverage ($ wise) for the racing I do.

one of the big reason a benz would b cheaper is because they're harder to steal. i was lookin at a porshe boxster one time and the insurance for that woulda been lower than my '00 civic si.
