Is anyone interested in purchasing a STI?
Hi everyone,
I hope this is okay, I am new to the forum. I work for Valley Subaru and we do not have any waiting list yet for the STI. If you are interested in purchasing one of the first ones to get here please let me know.
Here is the deal, there is a $1,000 deposit that is non-refundable. The price will be MSRP plus $2,500. As I am sure that most of you are aware there will only be 3000 of them coming to the US. My dealership is slated to receive 24 of them.
Let me know soon and I will make sure you get the first one. Please be sure to ask for me. Thank you for all of your interest.

That is not fair!
That is not fair, I am only getting the word out. My dealership sets the policy. I don't think that we are asking for anything that is unreasonable, but if you think so please give me call here and we can discuss it. I am about as friendly as they come. I just thought that you would all like to know that I don't currently have a waiting list. Please feel free to purchase this vehicle from anyone you wish. If you would like one right away when they get here, please let me know.

Man what did I get into here
Hay everyone,
Listen, I thought that I was doing everyone a favor by letting you know that I don't have a waiting list. I didn't think that I would be getting so much bad press here. I am not trying to hurt anyone. As to where I got the 3,000 figure, I got that from my Subaru Corp. rep. He may be mistaken, but I know for sure that my dealership is only getting 24 for the year. Please give me a break here, if you are not interested great, but please don't drag me through the mud for trying to be a nice person. If you want to wait, wait. If you want one right away, and don't mind paying alittle more for the honor. Give me a call at work.

who says the other guys are waiting. they might be gettting theirs the same time u get them at your dealer.
just b/c your dealers getting 24 soon doesnt mean other dealerships arent getting the same amount, or more, and are selling them at a much better price and terms than you are.
go somewhere where people care.....

It just occurred to me that many of you are not writing from Colorado. This explains why you are all so negative. I don't know if you were aware or not, and I am not trying to start a fight, we sell more Subaru's in Boulder County then anywhere else in the Country. The demand here is greater than anywhere else for these cars. Just to clarify, we are getting 24 for the year, not all at once. No dealership that I am aware of will be getting 24 cars all at once. Again, I was just trying to help. I have already been offered over the requested amount to be the first one. If this is not for you that is fine. I love Subaru's I am looking forward to racing one in the Club Rally season next year. There is no stronger supporter. I honestly thought I was doing people a favor here. I am sorry that I upset so many of you. Have a great night.
hey there
i understand where you are coming from, but what % of your sales are wrx's? i would be willing to bet that in california, there are dealers that sell many more wrx's than you do. i would assume you sell more foresters and outbacks than wrx's. just a guess, and i am not flaming at you.
the production #'s from several sources claim a bit more than 4k cars this year, and allocation based on previous sales. that certainly validates you # of cars, and the dealer i am #1 on the list is getting about the same amount, possibly more. they are in an affluent bay area community, and regularly sell wrx's well above invoice, and often above MSRP.
i have a guarentee on the STi for at the most MSRP, but more likely a few hundred less. that is pretty standard for most people who have submitted a deposit. my deposit is also refundable. everyone i have seen here or talked to is also has a refundable deposit. mainly due to the fact Subaru isnt even taking deposits or orders yet. the deposit i put down is simply to ensure i am on the list at my dealer.
with all this in mind, that is probably why you are getting a negative respose here. make the deposit $500 and refundable, and sell them at MSRP, and you will probably get all 24 reserved right away. or dont, and enjoy ripping some poor sap off.

1000$ dollar non refundable deposit and 2500 above MSRP and no waiting list yet...I cant figure out why, what with such an attractive offer. Whats next you gonna tell us that the 1000$ was only to hold the car and not to be placed against thge balance. Maybe you can get me a 15% interest rate while your at it and sell the car mats seperately. Sign me up for 2! My name is I. M. Dumb. (that was sarcasm just in case)
I know your just the messenger but I can get guaranteed MSRP in writing with a 500$ refundable deposit.
Granted I live in New England where no Subarus are sold (sarcasm again)

At Flatirons subaru, where this guy is posting about. I was in on the 9th.
I spoke to the sales person who sold me my WRX and was informed that there *is* a waiting list. When inquiring about the price, I was informed that there is *no* deposit and certainly no markup -- particularly given the fact that the prices have not been released yet.
Do you really think your sales manager would appreciate you doing this? Flatirons has an exceptional reputation and I hope you would not act to tarnish their reputation.
I am offended by this post. People who walk into the dealership are given the straight story -- but slime ***** such as this are out to take your money.

Erik, just let the product sell itself. Go to the local autocrosses in a WRX, hand out some business cards, write on them "300HP STI coming soon", and I bet you'll get a few calls.
But if you think you're going to make a big profit from selling to anyone in the Subaru online community (i-club, nasioc.com, etc..) , you're kidding yourself.
Unless you have any new or valuable information to contribute, please quit trying to use this public, not-for-profit forum to do your business. Did you get permission from Alex (Imprezer) before posting this ad? Why didn't you post your ad in the classified "for sale" forums?
Good luck, you seem to need it...
