hmm

since they are only making 4,500 stis for the 1st year. most dealers will not sell you an sti at the invoice price. some states will mark up even higher. msrp tends to be the more than fair price if the dealer has a mark up. as far as options go you won't have any for an sti except maybe stereo options. no leather.nofloor mats. unless specially ordered. hope this help!

Question zero understanding

i am trying to figure out why dealers are selling their cars @ invoice?? if i were to sell my own "goods" iwould at least try to make a profit. selling an sti is not like selling a civic dx or a neon base model! as prized as the car is. . . it boggles my mind for a dealer to de-value the car by giving it away. even this early on in the year there is only a very small incentive for the sti.

The way I understand it is the invoice we hear about is not actually what the dealer pays for the car. But even if it was, there's a lot of people that go to a dealer and say OK to whatever the salesman says is the price. Dealers are making a healthy profit, not to worry.

In addition, most dealers utililze some form of lot planning to achieve their inventory. Most lot planning financing for dealers come in 30 or 60 day increments. Dealers will pay interest on the car each day it sits on the lot. Considering the -50 degree wind chill in manchester combined with lack of interest of a car with summer tires in the middle of the snow equals slow sales. Some dealers will be willing to take the 3% profit ($2606) over having 10 sti's sitting on the lot and paying interest becuase its too cold for most buyers to go window shopping.

tru dat

i must agree with what has been said. being that sell subies in 808 i know that every state is different. yes i know there is a profit @ invoice (for some dealers-the high volume ones) in all honesty msrp is a price set for all 50 states. i just wish that they would do that for gas(and bread and milk!! and cereal!!) too!! that way we here in hawaii could benefit some the low gas prices!! if i sell a car @ invoice i make 100 dollars. yay but, thats the car business! on another note - has anyone ever walked into a mercedes/bmw/lotus dealership and asked to pay invoice? just wondering(i know. . . a subaru is not a m/b/l)
