Any Canadians get their STi yet?

Hey guys,
Congrats TR11! Looks like you felt the same way I did the first day! The urge in 6th at part throttle is pretty cool, especially compared to the WRX. Going from 100 to 150 in 6th is becoming one of my favourite pastimes so far, and great for break-in (have to vary those speeds
). To really blow your mind, try the following ramps to get a feeling of what the STi is capable of vs. your former car (or most any road car for that matter):
* Bayview-Bloor exit off of N/B DVP, continue all the way up the hill to Bloor;
* DVP exit off of S/B Bayview extension, take either DVP south (hard right) or DVP north (long S sweeper) ramps;
* DVP northbound exit off of E/B Bloor; or
* any ramp anywhere.
Don't go crazy or anything, just have a little fun.
Speaking of fun ... phun, I know the feeling ... I was so excited I could hardly sleep. Give us a report when you can!! Way to go gil, I knew it was just a matter of time for you buddy!
twg, I had no pinging at all on 91, but then again I was upshifting at 3500 under very light throttle. Made a beeline for Sunoco and put Ultra in at around 50 km. I live right downtown so fuel will be a pain -- I think the closest Sunoco is up on Laird Drive.
Anyone have more info on a proper HID retrofit for both mainbeam and fogs on the STi, including the height adjustment switch for the mainbeams? twg, I take it you're talking about your Volvo?

Oh man, this is killing me. My car is in today, I have my VIN and everything but I can't get it because my current car is not selling. If I can't sell it...no STi for me! If you know anyone who wants to buy a 98 Mustang GT 5 speed let me know. It's in awesome condition!

Man oh Man!
Hello All:
picked it up at Subaru of Mississauga today at 1715.
blue/gold with about 20 km on odometer -
SOM does all the pre-delivery inspections for this area - among other things they take it in for full alignment prior to delivery
guess this was the third one out the door for them blue/gold then silver/silver then mine
no other options except for 3M stoneguard - costs about $325 CDN
The gearing in this thing is so low - next to impossible to keep it under 4000 as required for break-in. I'm guessing I'm using between a fifth and a quarter of throttle travel to keep the revs in the 3500 range!
You certainly know the scoop is there - I found it a little tough to judge centre of lane and distance from parked cars for the first while.
Rear spoiler hardly registers in the rear-view - not obtrusive at all. I'm 6'3"; leg room/head room just fine.
I really get the feeling of holding back a ferocious beast - you know; kind of feathering the gas and being gentle with the clutch.
3rd, 4th and 5th will be used a lot for normal city driving. I found myself doing the 2nd to 5th gear change more often than I wanted!
This little automobile has a lot of character - it's going to be a fun ride!
Cheers, Phun

Hey, Phun, so are you going to park your car in the same parking spot at work as the other guy did with his Sti? It's probably the best spot in that lot. I'm getting the same colour as you (if I ever move my current car) so they'll be two in the area!
hammerwielder,
i have HID retros in my accord right now. I hear retros on the low beams shouldn't be too bad, because they are H1 stock, so the HID arc _CAN_ be placed in almost the same spot as the halogen filament...
FOGs will be tough since H3 and HID retros do not work well...
I don't think you can get the auto-leveling feature unless you buy the stock HID system. I remember someone on either this board or the nasioc board advertising the stock HID system for $900US... still a lot of change IMO.
phun: For 325, what part of the car did they cover ? Did you do the bumper too or only the hood ?

I got mine finally!
Sweet sweet sweet and more sweet.
Black/Silver and fast!
I've only had it 1 day, but I love it already. I have about 140km on it already. I need a long distance trip to break it in faster.
I found out today that the tires don't like wet surfaces very much
Going around a corner at 60km/h slippery!, then sideways before I knew what was going on. But the AWD straightened it out before I could even get worried. Soo nice.
I'll keep you posted.
