Yep, if you look in the manual they tell you the black strip along the top is a magnetic paint. They warn you not to scratch it or else your radio performance might be affected.

I got an 04 wagon and the in-glass antenna stinks. Tons of static on my daily commute from the east bay to the south bay where I had no problems in my Tacoma truck w/ an external whip antenna.

But I can live with it... I'd rather have a cleaner look I'll just listen to CDs

I had an 02 outback sport with an external antenna and now I have a 04 WRX wagon and I haven't noticed a difference.

don't mean to resurrect this from the depths but i have an o3 wagon and an sti . . . the antenna is better on th 03 and the in glass sux. . . but i gotta say that nothing is more ghetto than "seeping" the antenna to the point where its one inch protruding just to have a "cleaner look"
