Volume compensation / noise reduction

Does anyone know of an aftermarket head unit that features some form of active noise reduction / cancellation (like noise canceling headphones do) or if not that, then a feature similar to the Bose OEM units in Audi's that does volume leveling based on detected noise levels in the cabin?
The WRX is a noisy beast, and listening to radio or music while driving around at varying speeds is hell. One minute too soft, next minute, too loud. Or tire and engine noise cancel key frequencies and you can't discern what's been said.
You'd think with all the DSP horsepower available these days, this would be a popular feature for environments like a car.
Looking forward to the feedback.
Cheers.

Which units had that feature that they did not like? Is there a marketing term I can search for?
Could be a bad implementation from years ago.
Don't know if anyone has tried room correctors on their home stereo's, but stuff such as TacT audio RCS is pure magic for home systems.

because most of the cost of OEM systems are TAILORING the systems to each vehicle.
DSP can only go so far... check out the now dead (but still has a following) sony XDP-4000.
car manufactureres bring the car into the like BOSE's labs and run them through tests and stuff to bring out the sound system.
now, aftermarket can get like that but like triple or more the price.
room analyzers, also can only go so far. the car cabin is much more complicated than a home theater.
you have the bump around 180 hz that is almost common in every car.
as for active noise cancelling... good luck.
i remember a company around late 90s trying to experiment with one. all you need is a mic and a ffast enough computer to spit out the 180 degree out of phase noise wave to cancel the noise.
but then... can you filter out the music so that doesnt get cancelled?
as for compression, blame FM stations for using compressors. actually top 40's stations. they love using them. classical, jazz, etc, dont seem to use them.
