noise reduction...

so, I'm tired of the road noise and am trying to lessen it.

So far I've done the trunk (but not the sidewalls of the trunk), the roof (95% of it at least) which was tricky taking out the headliner and stuff...

Next I'm doing the rear doors. For this though I'm only doing the layer right under the panel, not the outer skin. I realize that I'm going to need to remove the plastic sheet in there which I was a little worried about at first but I think it's going to be worth it.

After that I'm doing under the rear seat and on the piece of plastic that's between the seatback and the trunk (I've read that doing this piece makes a HUUUUGE difference).

Then the front doors...

any advice?

... I'm using this... http://www.b-quiet.com/extreme.html

If I'm happy with the results I'll do this to my 2.5RS as well.

and for those concerned with weight an entire 50' roll only weighs 15lbs...

Can a mod move this to the Bay Area forum?

Thanks!

How is it working out?

Curious how much quieter your ride is. I too am considering making the move to quiet the thing down ('06 sti), especially for those long highway trips!

Have you done enough yet to tell?

I didn't do the two front doors yet but yes, it's a nice improvement.

I only used about half of the roll so around 7lbs.

Just be careful removing your headliner. They get bends in them very easily... I'd actually do that last and see if you really need to. I do believe it makes a difference to have it done.

headliner

I read up on few sites that not many people do the roof. I contacted b-quiet and they said what you are, do everything else first and see if you need it. So that is my plan, if I can get a decent db reduction w/o the roof done, it stays stock. I am sure it would help - but my last resort.

Cheers
