Stupid/simple stereo question/problem
Hey everyone,
I don't know much about stereo stuff, and I'm having a bit of an issue here. I have an 01 RS, and the stereo is basically all stock. I just had a Kenwood MP3 deck in the car, and it all of the sudden stopped working. First it just would not turn on, then it seemed like it'd try to turn on but it would never actually flip over. I couldn't see the display or insert / remove discs. So I just tried to put the factotry stereo back in, and it won't turn on either now. Any ideas? I've checked fuses and they all seem good. I have only checked the fuses in the main fuse box under the hood though. Is there anything else to look for?
If anyone has any ideas, any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
-Trevor

Ahh alright, thanks a lot for the response. So here's another stupid question - where exactly is the fusebox under the dash? I got the car used and the owner didn't have the owner's manual. There's also an aftermarket security system (that I would not mind removing) so I see a few boxes for that and a "mitsubishi electronics" box, but I'm guessing this is aftermarket.
Thanks again,

I don't recall for sure if the 01 is the same as the 02, but there should be a flip-down cover or coin tray on the left side under the dash, the fuse box is behind that once you pull it out.

Check the fuse that is in the back of your deck, or it might be in-line on either the accessory or power lead. Also check that your ground is solid. (if it was trying to turn on and now it wont at all, the ground could have been loose, then got disconnected).

Have you done any work on the car recently? Are there any other symptoms? Do you have a multi-meter to test the lines for current?
Sounds like a blown fuse. most likely in the cars system and not the deck, since the factory deck doesn't work either.
