No install kit needed for the mechanical installation, just make sure whatever unit you buy is made for an "ISO-DIN" type of installation. The unit will attach directly to the brackets that are now in the car. For the electrical part you need an adapter harness that will plug into the vehicle harness and connect to the harness that comes with your radio, so you can do a plug-in install without cutting any wires. The Subaru harness adapters are available from car stereo places both in stores and online.
As for the speakers, the doors are prewired for the OEM speakers, if you get better aftermarket ones (recommended) there are also adapters for those connectors to attach to your speakers so you don't have to cut the OE connectors off. Subaru does NOT provide the mounting clips for the speakers though, if you didn't order the car with speakers installed you'll have to get those from the dealer or store. They are small white plastic clips with screw holes, that pop into the square holes in the door around the speaker openings. There are 3 per door.
The front doors can accomodate up to 6-1/2" speakers, but only with adapters/spacers. Subaru includes the spacers with their "upgraded" speakers but doesn't sell them separately so you'll have to get them elsewhere or make your own.
