Upgreaded speakers and sub/amp mfr?
Can anyone tell me the manufacturer and model of Subuaru upgraded speakers and sub/amp? I'm looking to buy a new '04 WRX and want to decide if I should ask for these upgrade options.
I don't need fantastic sound, just some nice listening speakers. I hate the thump/bump of a sub, but like nice speakers and enough power to drive them.
Thanks.

the upgraded speakers aren't the greatest - but they came with the car I ended up buying. so i'll have to work on an upgrade soon.

Don't do it......
The $500+ premium speaker/sub upgrade sucks...
I would personally get a Headunit that can play MP3's, and have the option for easy XM radio hookup. An amplifier and some good speakers would be best. You can fit 6.5" in the front doors if you make baffles. I put 5.25" in the back doors with baffles as well. You can also hook up a Ipod/mp3 player up to a aftermarket deck.
Depending on on what you choose, It will cost you more, but the results will be better, dollar for dollar...
Oh yeah, I am a stereo nut...

Thanks for the reply. The car I bought came with the upgraded speakers/sub. The price on the car was great, so I bought it with the add-ons. If I get tired of the average sound the system provides, I'll upgrade it on my own.
Since you are a self-proclaimed 'speaker nut' do you mind me picking your brain on the Lanzar NEO 6.5 & 5.25 in super slim mount speakers?

Hey tjcarst,
Well, Lanzar has not made much a name in the scene for some time. They were known in competition years ago.
I did a few searches for Lanzar products, and I was surprised to find that no one reviewed their speakers. The NEO series is affordable ( I saw $50-80/set) but I would not expect too much improvement over your stock speakers.
I would go and listen to as many speakers
as you can. Always bring the same cd's with you for a fair comparison.
Each demo room you visit will be set up differently; Acoustics, amps, subs. Keep in mind that they might be using a better/lesser quality amp or head unit than you.
A car will usually sound better than the demo room in my experience.
There are so many factors to consider.
Ultimately, choose what sounds good to your ears. Titanium tweeters vs. silk has, and always will come down to preference.
Good luck.
