Remote trunk relase

Does anyone install a remote trunk relase on a WRX? Friend's shop told me they weren't able to install it becase the emergency relase lever was in the way. They couldn't get the wire to go through. Did anyone have that kind of problem?

I was a bit disappointed when i heard that. I really like the remote trunk relase, it's very convenient.

It can be done, I think the only way I have seen it posted was actually removing the emergency release and replacing it with the solenoid (why bother locking somebody in the trunk if they can just get right back out?). The shop may have liability concerns with removing a safety device. There is a post on scoobymods that shows not only how to add trunk pop but to make it work from factory keyless entry - an aftermarket alarm with dedicated trunk button would be better. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...=trunk+release. If you do it, post it up alot of people (including me) would like to have this convenience as well.
