I plan on doing this...but I dont care about the remote. I'll just open it from the cabin.

Ofcourse you will need the Key hole filled and your tunk lid repainted. which will be a couple hundred buck, I think.

Aftermarket car alarms have a trunk button. You'll have to install the solenoid yourself. I was thinking about it at one time, but didn't bother.

Assuming you have a sedan, why not get a Carbon Fiber trunk lid? There not that hard to find with out a key hole pre drilled. Just a thought of course. If you look around you might be able to find one for close to what it would cost to paint and fill your current trunk.

another option i considered since I could not find anyone to trade my STi winged trunk with, was fiberglass trunk cheaper than the carbon fiber and a bit lighter. Not sure if it has the key hole predrilled though.

Cheers

sorry... definitely would not put a fiberglass or cf trunk on my car. my car pulls pretty well... I'm not concerned about weight.

Not too bad if you are familiar with how they work.

yeah, when I had my car repainted for a minor issue, the guys at Panelcraft were telling me to shave the keyhole for the trunk because it's the easiest way to break into a WRX (besides busting a window). Never did it, though...

I think that guy is on crack, that would be the case then for most cars with key holes in the trunk...not just the WRX

Lets say someone did that to a WRX Sedan, what would they do...crawl through that lil pass through? Now for a Wagon...maybe...but still they would have to unlock it, in order to use the lid handle.

It seems to me, to be faster and easier to take out a window.

I think they just wanted you to spend more money with them to do some body work and paint more on your deck lid. lol
