rattling noise
rattling noise
Im a noob when it come to sound systems and all but I know I have a 12inch rockford sub in trunk of my 04wrx and when I turn the music up just a little like at 7 or 10, From the front driver seat, I can hear the back rattling. BAD. its really annoying. I think it has to be the back panel piece by the rear headrest where the baby seat clamps are. Is there anyway of gettin rid of this rattling noise? should i put the speakers out more towards the trunk lid?. please help, its really annoying when I play music
It's most likely the rear deck rattling. Turn your music up to a level that causes the rattle and get into the back seat. If it's the rear deck, then the rattling should stop when you put some pressure on it. If it's still rattling, then use the same method on the third brake light, seat belts and anything else you can see that could be making noise. Hopefully you'll find the sourse of the noise this way. It could also be the licence plate or any of the panels in the trunk. Depending on what's rattling, there are different ways to fix the problem.
wrxguy, I posted this on NASIOC under "Fixing my Rattle", but here is what I did. I went to Lowe's and bought a 1' x 6' section of carpet underlayment (the foam crap), which is the smallest I could buy. It cost like $2. I went in through the trunk and from there you can reach up under the rear deck. There are two big holes on each side and there is one small circular hole in the middle. The main problem is right in front of the small hole. If you reach in there you can feel how tight it is. I just cut up small pieces of the underlayment and squeezed them in there until I felt like there was enough. I also put some through the big holes towards the back, but I doubt you really need to do that.
Have you listened to the trunk from the outside yet?
Mine sounded like crap and there was a weird rattle sound on each side. Just search my NASIOC thread and the answer to that is there. If you need anymore help just ask. I still have to finish up my driver's side part of my trunk today.
