Well the '06 models don't have a tape deck! So I was wondering if anyone knows how can I wire in a simple auxillary input so i can hook up my mp3 player to my stereo! The easier the better!
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you are willing to yank it out and see what type of inputs are on the back, there are some pinouts on scoobymods.com for using the changer inputs with varying degrees of success. I haven't tried it, I just replaced the HU. check the thread: http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3357 or do a search for 'aux in' or '13-pin pinout' '16-pin pinout'.

thanks for the tips!
how does the FM modulator sound? Do you guys recommend a certain one?
Replacing the HU is gonna suck me into upgrading my whole speaker system...must... resist....

Try a JL Audio CleanSweap
I just installed one and not only does it rebalance the factory decks, but it provides an Aux in. I hook my laptop to it and play MP3s.
Works great. A little expensive but if you plan to install any amps this is definately the way to go.
My legacy sounds amazing now.

ya basicly just a plug in deal.
I took the outputs from the main deck to the speakers, cut them. Then hooked the deck right into the cleansweap. Then I run the cleansweap outputs to the amps. Finally I run the speaker wires from the amps to the wires that run to the speakers that I cut.
Then you set your factory deck to like 3/4 volume (the DSP volume all the way down so you dont blow your ears) and put in the calibration cd in. And press the calibrate button on top of the DSP. Few seconds later its all done.
Then you use the cleansweaps volume control for best results.

Yeah, the cleansweep is a great deal for people with integrated stereos that aren't easily replaced with aftermarket. For Subaru's that easily take a single or double din stereo it is cheaper to just buy an aftermarket stereo instead - unless you are going for the super-stealth install and you want it to look stock.
