Jammers/Scramblers/Detectors
Hi all,
I did a search for Jammers and Scramblers and nothing popped up after 2003 so I thought I would start a new thread to see whats out there and what people recomend.
Police have made "radar Detectors" almost worthless with their ability to pull a trigger and "pop" you. I saw an add (I don't remember where) for a radar scramber or jammer. What do you all know about these devices? Do they work? and where can you get one?
Thanks

Passive jammers or scramblers, i.e. anything made by "Rocky Mountain Radar", do NOT work. The only radar jammers that actually do anything are the active type, and since these are really transmitters they are highly illegal. They're also very expensive even if you did want to get one.
There are some laser jammers on the market that do work, however your speed may still be clocked with laser just at a much shorter range. Fortunately the thing with laser traps is that they usually can't hide as with radar traps, since the laser must be aimed directly at the target. The officer will often park perpendicular to traffic and thus be easier to spot from a distance.
Although it's true that instant-on radar is now very widely used, you can still use common sense to protect yourself. Don't drive faster than the surrounding traffic, and if you are the only car on the road or the first in a pack stay out of the left lane and don't draw attention to yourself. A detector can still warn you when instant-on is being used on traffic up ahead and give you time to react if you are driving sensibly.
And there is still plenty of conventional non-instant-on radar in use.
