How good are The factory door tweeters?
I am about to upgrade my sound system. I already have added 6.5" pioneer 3-way all the way around and I am adding a 4 x 50w rms for the door speakers and a 120w mono amp and 10" sub. Will the factory hi mounted tweeter be able to hold up or should I et new tweeters? Thanks
they are okay...
when i was buying my wrx, one of things i tested was the "upgraded" speaker setup.
i loaded my test CD and cranked it up.
i listened for about 10 minutes or so.
wasnt the same as my mb quarts components. i wasnt expecting it, but for the price they were offering, it wasnt even the same...

there's no real need to upgrade the factory tweeters if you have already replaced the door speakers. They should be able to handle the power that the head unit provides. i run mb quarts components in all four doors, yet i chose to keep the factory tweeters also. i like the sound of 6 tweeters and the factory ones still sound great. don't spend if you don't have to.
why don't you just run the door speakers of the amp and then run the factory tweeters off the head unit? it's easier that way. no need to run extra wires. my factory tweeters are holding strong at 30 rms, by the way.
