Factory Alarm Help?
Yeah... I'm new here, and I don't have an Impreza... I've got a '98 Legacy Outback... but the alarm's recently quit on me... was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for info on the alarm. Imprezas made within thhat chunk of years have the same system.
It's not responding to either of my my remotes (alarm or door lock/unlock)... I just changed the batteries in them a few weeks ago. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else?
Oh yeah, I'm new here.
Be gentle.
Thanks!

From: Longing for my ol' white '02 WRX :(
Car Info: 2016 Acura RDX ... meh. Um, nice subwoofer?
I know on the WRX system you have to re-sync the remotes some times. Press either of the lock/unlock buttons 6 times in a row, not too fast and it should respond. If not, i dunno. I've experienced the same thing and this has worked for me.

Have a look here:

That should be the same alarm as the Impreza used that year.

Thanks guys.
So... resetting the remote is a "normal" thing? Just curious as to what causes things like that.
I checked out that link, looks great, but it's about installing the alarm upgrade... I just want to fix mine. Ha ha ha.
I found this useless info at Cars101.com:
http://www.cars101.com/subaru/keyless.html#code%20alarm
I'm going to try re-setting it tonight... if I get nowhere I guess I'll be taking it to the dealer.
Thanks again!
(Anyone know of any forums like this for Outback owners? Someday I'll have the WRX also... ha ha ha.)
