aftermarket remote to work with stock security system
I bought an installed a remote start for my 2002 WRX but I ran into a problem and no one can seem to give me any answers.
I need to have the remote start remote work the keyless entry/security system to lock and unlock the doors and to arm and disarm at the same time. I tried to program the remotes to the stock system but it wont take. The remote start has the wires to tap into the the stock system but I cant figure out which two wires to tap into. One wire for the arm and the other to disarm. I tried the wires between the keyless entry and the security system and nothing worked.
The people at Subaru cant help and neither can Autopage, where I got the unit.
Can anyone here help me???
Please help, it really sucks carrying around two different remotes!!

Adding a standalone remote start system to the Subaru Security Upgrade system is definitely not a worthwhile effort. There are at least 3 wires connected from the Keyless Entry System to the Subaru Security Module. Meter those 3 wires and see what their behavior is when you arm and disarm the alarm. The Keyless Entry System should pulse out to the Subaru Security Module to disarm or arm.
Once you figure which wires does what you should be able to use the standalone remote start system's pulse out wires to disarm the factory alarm before remote start.
To be honest, it's better that you install a complete alarm/remote start system that offers better remote range and enhanced features such as 2 way paging, better shock sensor etc...
