Thinking about buying laptop.. any guru suggestion?

if you're looking at just the physical fact that its a laptop with a screen, a keyboard, and a disk drive, then yeah, its overpriced. If you factor in the quality of the machine, the abilities of the OS, and the helpfulness of AppleCare, then its not overpriced

I like my window xp.. yeah it's got problems but it works for me.
I really wouldn't need applecare because I think i'm pretty knowledgeable on how to fix software and hardware bugs and problems.
Just like my car.. i prefer to work on the problems myself.

well said . I have had zero problems with my macbook, everything just works.

just get a dell. its a decent laptop and u can get a pretty good one for $700 plus tax.

i would get the $699 one cuz it has 2gb ram and a video card.

Dell is pretty much the cheapest (price wise) computer manufacturer. But for a pc laptop, I'd go with Toshiba or Fujitsu. They build pretty quality laptops.

Oh i want a very compact computer so i prefer 14" screen or smaller.
As light as possible.

HDD is not big concern because i can always get external HDD.
