It was a nice 15.4" notebook.

I wish I bought it. But now that thing is back up for $900.

$900 is still not bad...
but lenovo is suppose to be pretty good since it's IBM.
I'm pretty much only looking at lenovo , toshiba, fujitsu and dell.

even if just watching movies getting a dedicated video card will help out a lot, i would avoid the ones using integrated/shared mem ones.
also if you get a vista laptop upgrade to 2gb mem...

Just did a quick search and found this. Don't have time to research the specs right now, heading to bed. I'm sure some of the night owls will comment on it soon .

i was able to customize a few dell for under $1000 with just a upgraded 1.8 ghz cpu and most of the standard option.
Spend another $150 on ram and I think it would be a pretty good laptop.

I got a Macbook so I can run in both worlds. Mac for design/play, and WinXP for work via vpn. The OS X is just intuitive. I love the interface. I also make my ringtones through Garage Band. You can drag and drop more stuff in the OS X.
