Thats what i've heard everyone say.

I bought an HP when vista came out. I don't have problems with it.

+1 on the lenovo's but fujitsus are also really good. and i too would recommend a core 2 duo over the amd x2's.

if its in ur budget and u dont mind learning a new os then maybe get a mac. but to get one with similar features to those two is gonna be an arm and a leg

Parallels owns all. Mac OS *and* Vista - the best of both worlds, really. It's worth the extra ~$350-$400 in memory upgrades and software to have both, especially if you're running Windows on a desktop at home or work.

I run both.

I also agree on Lenovos, too bad you just missed a 10% off coupon that just ended April 30th.

Also, if you can opt for it, I'd recommend sticking with XP instead of Vista. From what I've used, Vista may be "better" for the people who barely know how to use computers, however this "user friendliness" makes the computer runs a lot slower and also many programs are still not compatible with Vista.

Just as an example, Dell laptop with 2 year old technology, Centrino chip, 1 gig RAM with XP Pro definately outperforms (just running normal operations) my roommate's Dell laptop with Core 2 Duo + 2 gigs RAM with Vista. However, due to HUGE differences in Video cards, his laptop can out game my laptop anyday... but then again, that's what my desktop is for.

i was told the new chip set gma x3100 is coming out in 2 weeks and I should wait for that.
The only use for my laptop is for internet browsing.
I have my desktop to use for gaming if i have to.

the fujitsu with the core2duo would be a better choice, especially if your planning on using it a lot, the battery consumption on that is better than the one with the amdx2
