I guess since you are from Hawaii, be prepared to drive faster than you have driven before.... From what I have heard about Hawaiians driving under the speed limit, you might want to readjust (55 in a 60/65). Californians, especially southern californians drive 80mph avg. I was used to the Northern Californian "speed limit" which was 5-10 mph over tops. The Southern is ~15mph. This is the flow of traffic from what I have seen.

It depends on the time, Tim. At 2am on I-10 going westbound from San Gabriel area, going 80 got myself a ticket where the limit is 60. Yes, desperate cop as well.

Thanks gang...I guess the cost of living is pretty close to Hawaii since we have the highest gas prices nationwide as well as pay more for everything (like mods for my Suby).

Speed limit and the "Speed Limit" are not big deals to me...I drove in Seattle where people are actually pretty crazy and I don't mind going fast . Heck it might actually be fun this time because back then I drove a weak little Ford Focus...now I can actually accelerate

Big ups to Turbocoffin...great first post! Really informative...maybe I will check out the SFV too.

OK so first I need to actually get the job...I'm more than qualified IMHO. We'll see.

True.. But there are more desparate cops in the bay area compared to here from what I have seen.. I'm hoping that my radar detector I ordered will get here before I drive up to norcal..

I guess we have to base tickets given on what the average pay per officer is for each town/county...

Just bought an Escort 8500 X50.. Red LED (not blue). Too many speed traps near salinas and in those country areas in central cali.. I'm down to my last speeding ticket before the insurance companies yank my insurance...

OK so I sent in my resume, cover letter and writing sample...cross your fingers!

It's right up my alley, get to stay in non-profit work...but, I actually get to make a livable salary.
