I'm a third year at UCR as a Mechanical Engineer.
I need a flexible paid-internship, hopefully in a field that I would enjoy working in. I have been taking courses on Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Statics, Engineering Graphics and Design, etc. I would like to be involved in the research, design, and manufacturing of aftermarket high-performance parts.

Does anyone know anyone who can help me out?

If you're willing to travel to Chicago, then I know someone who works for Rexam. They make cans for soft drinks. I know a few engineers there.

local to socal, or just inland empire? I know a bunch of people who interned at defense companies, or stuff like that and got jobs in the field of making weapons for the US government... they were all ME majors too. these companies are mostly in san diego I think. starting salary after graduation was like 60-80K, with a 5K/year jump in salary after that. Last I heard my friend's brother is making slightly under 100K/year workin on missles or something

My uncle works for Raytheon somewhere in the LA area. Unfortunately, I don't think they have any openings for mechanical engineering internships. :/
