Does anyone have any connections in a detective or law enforcement internship. For my senior year of high school i have to do an internship in the field i wanna go to college in. I would like to do one of those things. I live in Putnam Valley and I dont really wanna drive no more than 45 minutes. Can anyone help?

Hello,
When I wanted to do a similar thing, I went to the local county district attorney's office and spoke with the head investigator there. Use some ***** and take the initiative. Go to the police station and tell them you are a high school senior looking for an internship. Ask the front desk people who you need to talk to about that. Talk to that person. Be dressed well (ie, business interview type clothing, for your first meeting) and have a nice folder with you (I used a leather folder that had a pad of paper in it and that's it). Have your resume with you - a one pager showing positions of responsibility you've had, either in work or in school related activities. Doesn't have to be impressive, you're only in high school.
I've found that when you present your case well and with confidence, you can go whereever you want. I had the lowest GPA and least experience of any of the attorneys at the large firm I worked at (same pay!), I was the first fully paid 1st year (law student) legal intern working for the US Attorney's Office. During the OJ trial, I made my case to the local District Attorney's office (I was a genetics major at the time) and convinced them that they needed me there to offer "debriefings" to go over the daily trial scientific evidence. Etc etc etc. Confidence gets you whereever you want.

Pete, That would be absolutely awsome! I was gonna do it with shanahan but local police departments wont let it for insurence reasons.
