FMIC?
FMIC?
alright a distant friend of mine told me that he had seen a rex with the intake manifold turned around with a fmic so he would get the bet air flow possible...i almost broke out in hives do to my allergies(i am allergic to bull****)...so when i should him that the intake manifold opening would be blocked by the all important alternator he freicked so i want to make sure im not totally out of line here so maybe if u have seen this done or u also know that this isea is bull**** you can inlighten me.

This was in an issue of Super Street a few months back. From what I've heard the alternator was adjusted lower by using a smaller belt and that it does fit w/ very little clearance. If you look at your intake manifold (top view) you'll notice that it is offset toward the front so if you reverse it then you'll have more room between the throttle body and the alt then it would initially appear. Secondly notice that the throttle body is angled up slightly.
I'm considering doing the same so I'm going to take some measurements between the alternator and the hood to see how much space there actually is.

Besides creating a shorter path for the intake plumbing, there may be some benefit to keeping that same intake tubing clear of the turbo, if it's still in the stock location. Less heat soak although it isn't as much of a problem as heat soaking a TMIC since it's thinwall tubing versus the mass of an IC.

thanks for the info. is there any issue with the throttle body linkage and such be cause it looks like a biatch and a half and all that work and you could just keep the tmic to shorten the turbo to ic length...seems like a whole lot for nothin then...thanks for the help though
