What am I missing? Aren't most pre-2006 STi R180 rears 3.90?

Since the skid pad and "autocross" pad are right next to each other, all day long all you hear is skreeeeeeech pssh skreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech. Having been in a couple wrecks in my lifetime, it was definitely wearing on my anxiety.

While this is only tangentially related and could easily be considered a threadjack, I'm old and sort of emotionally tone-deaf so....
No wonder my Fozchacho feels so edgy - the trans gearing and final drive are nutty!
Also, these specs show the US Forester XT as having the same ratios from 2004-2008 while I thought there were differences. Humph.
I wonder how much more mellow a 6-speed swap is going to make it feel.
