Thanks for the praise... The last time I almost wrecked... It was late at night, I was tired as hell and not paying attention to the fact that my exit was coming up and a VERY sharp turn at that. I went into the turn, oversteered instantly... I was going to crash. I basically bailed out... saw a potential runoff area, steered for it and hit the brake HARD (just about to the point of the ABS coming in, but not quite). The brakes brought me to a controlled stop about 4 feet from a guardrail, where had I tried to drive through it I would have definitely hit passenger side first, where my fiance was sitting next to me. I Have to admit, it was either a lot of luck or divine intervention depending upon your belief system of choice. A learning experience at minimum.

rain. tires. AWD invincibility turned off. Lift. crash. Common problem.

Don't blame the car and maybe you'll learn from this.

don't get the rear end loose in bad weather?

in a fwd car: keep the wheels pointed in the direction you want to be going and gradually back off the gas. as soon as you regain control, sell the pos and get a rwd or awd car.

in a rwd car: counter-steer, apply more gas, hang on, and have fun.

in a awd car: it must be a mechanical problem

I appreciate everybodys input and I think it was an incident of bad traction, wet road, and slow reaction (happened in about 1-2 seconds).
I have driven both front and rear wheel vehicles. I was just making sure that when the engine was put in that they didn't mess up anything in the tranny or suspension. The car just seems to be driving like a RWD vehicle more then a AWD. I don't have sways yet and I think my LR strut is going bad.

Actually I think the whole strut assembly, control arm, sway bar and crossmember are bad. Well I got it at Kniesels body shop and I take care of their computer network so they will treat me right. Maybe I can talk them into doing sedan front end and WRX crossmember if they replace them

Hate to say it, guys, but more cars are going to HAVE to be hybrids now (at least in the US anyways). I seriously doubt that cars will drive like the STI if they make 35mpg... unless it's the Tesla roadster, and that makes the new STI prices everyone's been b1tching about look cheap...

I don't mind hybrid cars. It's just the people that you typically find driving a prius are not yielding right for faster traffic. Ride a motorsykl for any amount of time and you'll find yourself going "damn there are a lot of prii in the HOV lane"

I was pretty close to getting the prius predecessor, the Honda Insight when it first came out. 70MPG. LA to SLC with a gallon of gas left.

That's all fine and dandy, but there's hardly any room in that thing. It's great for commuting, better than the prius, but I would still need another car for anything else.
