Who has been pulled over because of the Drag-Net program?
27151. Exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles, other than motorcycles, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds comply with Sections 27150 and 27151 if they emit no more than 95 dbA when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998
uhhh it says right there if you test under 95db you're in compliance with 27150, if you took that to court you would win even if on a technicality

(a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance with the provisions of Section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with Section 27200). No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an exhaust system so modified.

Again, another technicality you could get off with. I could claim that the cutout was not open while i was "operating" i.e. driving the vehicle therefore i am in comliance with the code.
(Although you would waste more money trying to fight it than just paying for it.)

Oh on another note, i think you should have the option to pay a fee with your registration so you could raise the acceptable levels on your emissions test (like the gas guzzler tax) and have all that money put into a clean air / alternative energy fund.

Um, that just says no muffler or exhaust system can have a cutout or bypass... if you cut your muffler off you don't have a cut out on it... nor does the exhaust system have a cutout

If a resonator or catalytic converter is enough to meet noise regulations, then yes the resonator or converter serves as "an adequate muffler" and would be legal according to section 27150.

ya so basically its ok to cut your muffler completely off, if it's not to loud... but you can't have a cutout, even if it complies with 271503...
How stupid is that... that makes no sense, which is why I refuse to believe it
thats crazy, but ive never been pulled over and ive been driving around with just the stock DP( removed stock CBE) for like a year now, it can be as loud or almost as quiet as i want.. but still no trouble due to noise.. im buying a cut out anyways soon, so thats not really gonna stop me

i have a subaru and a prelude, i havnt got pulled over in my subaru yet or i'd post it. i have been pulled over 12 times, got 11 tickets, only 2 were for speeding, the rest mods
1) what kind of car do you drive?
this is just about my prelude and my accord
2) is it modified?
-if so, what are the mods?
both of were
accord; headers, intake, exhaust, intake manifold, throttle body, valves, pistons, Type r Trany, ecu
prelude; headers, intake, exhaust, interior, glow, tower bar, dress up kit.
3) did the cop pull you over for a technicality (ie: failed to use turn signal) or did he claim to pull you over because he "suspected your car was modified"?
both were for mods, no speeding, lane change nothin, just mods
4) how long did the whole process take?
ummm for the accord 3 of the times for the exhuast average about 20 min. last time for the accord the guy didnt give me a ticket
prelude was pretty close to that time
5) was the cop full of crap? (asking what the parts on an STi are red, asking if it came with an intercooler)
well when i told them that the exhaust was greddy, cat back, which makes it street legal, every single one of them said "i do not know enough about cars to say if you're right or wong so you need to get it checked out" so i went to the court with my smog cert. proving it was legal, and the judge said the same thing, after that, i went to 3 other cops, all of them which said the exact a same thing. so i gave up, didnt show to court, payed a non show fee. then got off.
6) what was a cops attitude? was he an ******* or was he cool about it?
2 of the cops cussed me out, 3 of them were cool, i only have been pulled over 5 times for modified exhaust, but only got 4 tickets, one of the guys said i just need to think about getting a new one.
TIA guys. If you know anyone who has been pulled over for this, can you have them answer the questions? TIA again.
yes, I know I posted it in the Bay Area, SoCal, and Sac/Reno forums...just trying to get this out to more people.
