I know the cops are pulling over people with import modifications. But JUST with the wagon owners, how many of you have been pulled over for "modifications" or "profiling" (as you see it). NOT looking for speeders.

I'm just wondering how stealth wagons are to the cops; even the WRX's.

Today I was southbound on San Thomas Exp and some CHP was putting along making everyone drive 5 mph under the speed limit. An annoying granny in a camry makes my lane slow down to 15 mph under as she moseys her way into the left turn lane, making me miss the green light. I wasn't about to run a yellow with a cop behind me. He's several cars back in another lane.

The light turns green and I let the Mini Cooper next to me out accelerate me. The cop aggresively makes his way through the crowd and drafts my butt. I'm trying to look as bored with the commute as possible and making sure I stick to the 45 mph limit. He continues to draft me and then moves on and passes me up.

I couldn't tell if he was trying to make a show, checking my car for any reasons to pull me over, or what. I have stock everything (including exhaust) so there seriously was nothing on me. And only someone in the know could recognize the Whiteline sway bar and Kartboy endlinks.

Wagon pull over stories, please.

believe it or not... i was driving on park victoria today and a cop starts riding my ***. he didnt signal me to pull over or what not... just rode up my ***. i didin't know wat to do or what cuz i didn't do anything wrong and yet i felt like he's waiting for me to do something so he can pull me over....

so what did i do? i pulled over for no reason and i just sit there. he pulls over in front of me as well and gets out of the car. he asked me if i live at the house i just pulled over in front of. i said no. he then asked me why i pulled over abruptly. i told him that i was intimidated by his presence behind me considering that there was no traffic on the road and therefore had 2 choices available in mind: #1 speed off to gain some distance between me and him, which would give him reason to give me a speeding ticket. #2 pull over and let him pass in front of me. (well there is a 3rd... which was to just ignore it... but i have a mild case of hypertension.... so i kinda get worked up a bit too easily... so #3 was for sure thrown out of the window as a possible idea.) after me getting worked up during our lil conversation.... he proceeds to tell me to just drive safe on the road and have a nice day.

i drive a silver legacy sedan w/ ebay fartcans, bronze rims, and a sti badge on my car. so its safe to say that i'm pretty muched "riced out"

so needless to say... w/ all the cops out today. it is that time of the quarter again of the "per se quota"

drive safe all and let this week or 2 pass by quick.

i got pulled over on the freeway for supposely following too closely, the truck in front of me was going 45mph on the freeway, so i sped up alil to cut over and then i get pulled over and asked to pop my hood, then he checked out all the mods and said that it's all illegal and told me to put it back to stock and wrote me a ticket for following too closely.

 

wow. is that even a real law?

 

yea, thats bull****. They shouldnt have the right to look under your hood unless you were speeding or racing.

 

unfortunately w/ the ricer crackdown going on... its been made legal for them to have you pop your hood if you have the slightest bit of mod done to your car.

 

Pulled over once from a head on approach. CHP said I was doing 75 in a 55...which was debatable. I figured just pay up, I was going 65, so he had me. Since he didn't ask for any inspection, I let it go and took the ticket.

He did say I "Should get a CA license" but I explained that I am out of state military, and he again said that I should get a CA license. I asked if it was a requirement, because I was told before that it was not.

He said no, then I said that I didn't think I would be getting one. He said ok.
Since then I have reregistered my car through Florida (home state) and have less to worry about now, but since I have no front plate....I get alot of cruisers making U-turns just to see them recognize the Florida plates and then do another U-turn

 

I was pulled over for speeding a few weeks ago on 580 by the CHP. I have an APS exhaust, so it was fairly clear that I had mods on my 02 wagon. However with me being a 40-something yr-old, an up-til-then clean driving record, and trying to be as cordial/polite as possible, I only got the speeding ticket. I really was worried about getting grilled about the exhaust, etc. So in hindsight, I wonder if it was a profiling issue. If I were younger, would I have been 'harassed'? shrug....

 

02 blk wagon... only times I've been pulled over was for tint (3 times). Never once did the cop ever look at any another mods.

The first time I got pulled over I left the car idling with an M2 dual tip TBE. Cop never even looked at it.

I've had a few different TBE including a loud dyonmax axle back. Never a problem.

Personally I think wagons get much less attention especially those with no or little visual mods.

 

Not to mention all the stickers. ;P

 

Pulled over in my 04 wagon. gold wheels. tint. perrin exhaust.

not to long ago at 3 am on the way home from the bar. Weaving/speeding. He peppered me with some questions. Told me to catch some speed before I got back on the freeway and watch my speed on the freeway. Said happy bday. Surprised he didn't pull me back over for the exhaust when I went near WOT right in front of them to get back on the freeway.

Pulled over for wreckless driving, speeding, tailgating, illegal pass...etc. He was behind me when I was at WOT in 2nd and 3rd gear. Ended up getting me for no front plate, broken windshield, speeding, illegal pass. Waved the tailgating and wreckless. No ticket for exhaust or tint. Never even thought of popping the hood. Mind you I was very respectful through the whole thing and had a perfectly clean record at the time.......still do. WOOOOOT!!!!!!! traffic school baby.

I passed an officer doing about 90 on the highway once..nothing. Couple other times as well I felt I was gonna get pulled. But they do look at my car more and more often now. They are becoming more aware of the wagon. I think having a clean record and pushing 30 helps me. I know one things for sure.....soon as I put the gold JDM v7 wheels on I started getting many many more looks and have been pulled over a couple times...before that...nothing.

I'm either gonna paint them bronze or sell em or trade em. Maybe some black 18's or gunmetal 18's.

Before my 3rd cat delete, I had cops follow behind me on the expressway. I stuck the car on cruise control at 45MPH while I passed every person that was scurred.
The usually stay behind me a while, run my plates, then speed ahead.

I will now be moving over for the man to get by now since my *** smells so bad now.

 

I just got funny stares when I had my yellow wheels.

Now I have gunmetal torques and look fairly stock. Though I think my exhaust might be quieter then yours.
