Depends on the track. At Thunderhill there is no noise restrictions. But at Laguna they have a sound limit. I guess there is a meter at one of the corners. Bemani stated that you just don't go all out around that area and you're pretty much fine with whatever.

Buttonwillow and Reno/Fernely had no noise limits that I'm aware of. Not sure about Sears Point.

You know like here are the tools you should bring or this is what to expect as far as food and all.

A typical track day laid out would be great.
Since it's your 1st time you really don't need to bring a whole lot. They will provide lunch, drinks and snacks.

You may want to bring just an assortment of tools if you have them. If not then pretty much anyone there will help you out if you have any problems or need to adjust something.

You can bring a chair, maby some masking tape if you want to tape off your lights, window cleaner, paper towels, tire pressure gauge, air pump that you can plug into your lighter (but people have these on site and will let you borrow for the most part). Maybe some extra oil if for some reason you run out... Credit card for gas.

My 1st track day I didn't bring anything. I rented the helmet on site and I think I may have brought some mountain bike gloves (full finger fox).

A lot of people bring jack stands, jacks, power tools, something to block your wheels so you don't have to set your parking brake, torque wrench.

If you check out some of the web sites they can give you some additional info:

Correction, Thunderhill has a 103db sound limit. Sears/Infineon I believe is 98db. Most tracks limit can vary depending on who is running on the track. As far as Laguna goes, 92db yes, 92 db.... California street legal exhaust is 95db. Let off exiting turn 5 up the hill till you get to turn 6.

-Good luck

Thanks for the correction. I guess my car is just not loud enough to get past the 103 or 98db. Anyway, point being you have to becareful at Laguna and at the others it never seems to be an issue for us Subaru guys at HPDE days. But I do stand corrected.

Dude, if Lance's car isn't over 103 dB... there's effectively no sound limit at T-hill.

The sound limit thing at ThunderHill is a new thing I believe. They made an announcement the last time I was there and started flagging people.

I dunno,

Wow. It *used* to be "no race engines before 7:30AM".

It's not like they have any neighbors.

I was talking to someone last week at Thill that said that it can be heard for miles. There are a few farms out in that area. T-hill has only been there since the early 90's I believe. The farms have been there longer obviously. Things are always bound to change. Weekends probably raise more issues I assume.

At Laguna Audi track day two weeks ago it was 90db, but they measure it a good 50' from the track. People were getting stopped though.
