I have a question for clarification.

So do you want to know:

- how long it will take for senator to do the initial repair

- how long it will take them to do their repair properly when you return it all ****ed up in a few months

AND - in the time estimate should we include the time between the first repair and the second repair?

Please reply.

funny you should ask, i am at your 2nd question, but pls answer all 3 for verification purposes because it looks like thats where this is heading .. lemme add... this is the 2nd visit (obviously) within 1.5 months, did not fix either problem completely the 1st time(big surprise here), and now i am finding out it takes 7 days of sitting in their bay collecting dust, and .5 days( so far) to check the timing belt tensioner and add some new ac parts...they are a model of efficiency!

Well, the time estimates are tough but I can give you the times from my personal experience. BTW, my experience was in regards to replacing the timing belt cover and (I think) they replaced the belt as well. It was a while ago so I forget exactly what was done.

5 days to do the repair on the mechanicals

Car worked ok for about 8 months, then we heard some weird knocking noises. I had no idea that issue was going to be related to the previous repair so I took the car to Maita, which was a huge mistake. Maita took a day to diagnose, told me the timing belt cover was causing the noise - it was installed wrong and with aftermarket bolts and was actually rubbing on the belt.

Then it took a couple days for Senator to deny to Maita and to my insurance company that they had ever worked on the car (the service records in my hand foiled that little plan). Then Maita decided to warranty the claim, then **** me on the cost of the car rental.

Total time 7 days.

So you're looking at 12 repair days, 8 months of time between repairs approx, so just under 9 months to get the problem resolved.

well im coming up on 2 months since i 1st took it in now that i looked at the calendar, my car has spent more time sitting there collecting dust than it has with the hood open and sum1 turning wrenches on it.. original problem my motor developed a tap, i know our motors make alotta valve noise but it became oscenely loud over night, tapping/crunching sound coming from the front of the motor.took it in and had senator look at my ac while it was in there, they replaced the timing belt tensioner and timing belt and the ac compressor, 75% of the noise went away but its still there and annoyingly obvious, and ac function is erratic and compressor cycles on and off every few seconds.

now to the 2nd visit, i get a call( from the shop foreman i assume) that my ac function is normal, and that they could not duplicate the tap/tick from my motor, i tell them to keep it over night because although it still loud when warmed up, it is obscenely loud when cold, they keep it over night and duplicate the sound but cannot find where its coming from, and further more they see/hear that my ac compressor is cycling every few seconds, condensor and expansion valve will be replaced ( eventually, which is today a week after i dropped it off) as for the tap they inform me that they have to tear down my motor and it would be 3X hours labor and $3,115 and i have to pay that if nothing is wrong/broken. so i call my warranty company and talk to them, they recommend i take it to another dealership to atleast get a 2nd opinion, so thats where i stand now, but senator has to put my AC back together before i can drive it to maita or autowest( probably autowest).

my question to any1 in here who can shed some light on this is, would the timing belt tensioner failing/having play/go out of wack cause something to break or stress internally? senator would not answer that. my car guru friend and i poked around the hood before taking it in, and we think there is something wrong inside the drivers side head, some type of valve lash or something to that nature.. and sonic i read your deal with senator when i searched it literally hours after i took it in and it made my gut wrench, so i want to get it out of there ASAP
