so I just had a thought (pause for applause) is it that hard to make a USB hub? I mean, couldnt I just get whatever internals there are, the ports, and make my own? How complex can it be if they can fit them in tape dispensers? I think it'd be cool to keep everything I plug into my laptop when I'm at the desk (mouse, cell phone, mp3 player, camera) and have ports right in the desk so I plud them all in, and then just plug the computer into the desk

Kind of like when they the oil industry was under scrutiny for having record breaking PROFITS and they said it was because the cost of oil was so high, but high cost =! high profits, high cost+high markup=high profits

Have you tried a port replicator or dock?

the reason I was thinking of putting the ports right into the desk is because its a small desk and is crowded as it is

I'm thinking I can probably get a 4 port hub and just crack open the casing though
