When I drove up to North Lake Tahoe last weekend I noticed WAY more CHP 'on the job', likely because it was a holiday weekend and lotsa travel goings on. At one point I passed 3 different sets of cars getting 'visited' by CHP, all within about a 2mile stretch. The academy is in the area of Sac so yeah they have a lotta staff/n00b officers running around. I picked up about every speed detection method they were gunning with that day, X-K-Ka- and a fee pops on Laser.

Get a radar detector, mind your speeds, try to be low profile and hope for the best.
