Last week I was driving all the way down Bond in third... Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh. Then I see this SUV with a light rack on a mission approaching my six in a hurry. I think oh crap then go into super stealth blend in mode. 6th gear chugging along. SUV disengages pursuit. I carry on.
They have a reason. You fit a stereotype. Either visually or behaviorly.

I've lived in Elk Grove for 6 years now. I've never been pulled over here.
Slammed turbo civic with front mount and BOV and tint.
Loud exhaust on a mercedes with tint and no front plate.
STi with stock wing, catless Nvidia N1 exhaust, coil overs, sidemarkers.
I don't have tint on the STi, I run a front plate. I don't drive like an ***. I'm constantly on the lookout for cops. I like to think I spot them before they do me. I play it cool when they are rolling next to me. Don't start looking all nervous when they are behind you. Don't check the mirror a thousand times. Move your eyes not your head while you have sunglasses on. Also I do not speed in town. The open country roads yes. Old elk grove, NO. 25 exactly with traffic piled up behind.
Practice lane disciplen. Use your signals. Don't change lanes every 16 feet. Don't tailgate. Drive like Ghandi. Passive agressive is more fun. Box people in without being obvious about it.
I've been pulled over plenty of times. But it's been almost exclusivly for speeding and by CHP.

I got followed many times in my STi. My only mod was a not-so-loud Vishnu exhaust and tune. I think the wing just made me a huge target.
Fortunately I was never pulled over, but like Dan said, I don't drive like an *** (mostly), ran my front plate, and kept my eyes open. I'm old too so maybe that helped.

I get pulled over every time I street race.
So... never?
Actually, when I was in college I got pulled over probably about 2-3 times a year for drunk driving (when I was the sober DD). I'm pretty sure, though, that those were just random dubiously legal checks.

When I had my WRX....2-3 times in the almost a year I drove it.
Minimal mods. Drove speed limit everywhere. No "please-pull-me-over-and-pop-my-hood" exhaust or anything.
I have now been driving a tacoma for the past 18 months with a pretty loud flowmaster setup, tinted windows, lift, big tires, obnoxious stereo and I drive everywhere at 15mph over...and never been pulled over in it.... :-P

The cop spent 45 min going over my car and couldnt find a single thing wrong but still nailed me with the ticket, which I fought and won /glee =)

I got pulled over in Elk Grove for not having a front plate and they were going to write me a ticket. I have Florida tags and Florida does not require or will not give you a front plate.
