Modifiing a car is not illegal as long as your are withing the rules. Sadly the sterotypical law enforcement officer doesn't see it this way.

My STi been pulle over all the time here in Fresno. The body is completely stock and I keep my silencer in the exhaust. Its just lowere a little bit but i still get followed all the time. I got followed by CHP a couple of weeks ago for about 2 miles off the freeway and then finally got pulled over for tinted windows and no front license plate.

Looking for roids requires a special test that cost a bunch of $$$$, mainly cause it's looking for man-made substances that are chemicaly related to natural male hormones.
The cheep test (sometimes referred to as the "NIDA 5") is just looking for:
Cannabinoids (marijuana, hash)
Cocaine (cocaine, crack, benzoylecognine)
Amphetamines (amphetamines, methamphetamines, speed)
Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine)
Phencyclidine (PCP)

Here's a quote that makes me think there is hope.
