this is uckn stupid. any car can street race. just cause i mod my car to have more HP. doesnt mean i did it to street race. they want to make a law they should stop these american cars from producing 400+ and growing HP cars. thats why im thinking about getn the new Z06. 505HP stock and ill never get ucked with. was nothing to do with the car being modified. its called, we have to blame someone. why not the people that mod there cars and not worry about the cars that dont need to be moded cause the are all ready fast.
example:
i have a pacer.you have a gremlin. i challenge you to a street racer.we race for about a 1/4 in 36 seconds. hey we didnt mod are cars so the cops shouldnt uck with us,right?
just trying to say, you can have 50hp or 500hp. either way, your able to street race.

What it boils down to is this...
1) They can pull you over and cite you for whatever they "judge" a violation. Does that STi spolier look aftermarket? YEP! Off to the state to pay a fee to see if it is or isn't!
2) If they are wrong and your car turns out to be stock, you still pay the fee to have it looked at, and you lose that time and gas money to go get it tested.
3) This will be a tool to target people they ordinarily can not target because it is illegal. You can't come up to an asian kid in baggy jeans and send him off to a state review board where they "Decide if this kid is in a gang and commited a crime or not." But now, indirectly you can legally harrass these people now. Do you really think the 55 year old grey haired white guy is going to be pulled over for having tint on his vette and a Borla exhaust, of course not... This is a tool to pick on young, poor minorities.
4) You will also never see the following getting pulled over. Construction workers doing 95 mph down I-80 coming home from work, guys on harleys (good point made by someone else), guys in heavily modifed lifted 4X4 trucks, guys in classic American Muscle cars, ever...
If you want to stop street racing, go arrest street racers...

The aftermarket industry is not revolutionary in the fact it doesn't give itself a facelift every year or so. Face it, the internals and engineering of turbos, exhausts, suspension (etc) has managed to subtly change with groundbreaking advancements. The problem is that their external appearance has remained somewhat constant for years. Decades even...
Add this with the fact that revenue from hefty fines will easily pay for continued education as those subtle advancements are made in the industry. The $5million was just the bread starter... a measly bump in the road to get the ball rolling. This "Drag-Net" system must be self sustaining with the added potential of profit or else there's no reason to push forward.
Bottom line is you’re screwed if a member of Drag-Net is behind you while driving a modified car.
The question is how diluted is Drag-Net in the entire Sacramento area and are you willing to roll the dice every time you pull away from your garage?

What's great is even if they crack down on modified cars they will start to realize a ton of the people getting in accidents while street racing are driving stock cars.
