Could I get away with the stock tranny with an EJ20g for a little bit then swap in a new tranny later down the line? I guess the second part of the question would be if it would be cheaper to do all of it at the same time?

I don't really care if it is smog-legal or not. As long as I don't get a fat ticket. I think I'll buy a car after I graduate in 2 or 3 years.

i still favor LIC for the swap. remember...you get what you pay for...ive never been dissatisfied with their work and theyve done about everything on my car. as far as the jdm swap stuff...they can be done legally and be smog legal as well. endless waltz on here has an 00 RS with a ver7 swap in it with a non-dccd 6spd and HIS was done by LIC AND is smog legal...so it can be accomplished.

Hey maddhatteroo7,

Yeah. I read that LIC goes the extra mile with their work. Quality stuff!! I've visited their site a ton of times. Lots of options... 9K.... Yeah. I have about a tenth of that in a leasure fund. I just have to make the other 90% of that 9K.

You should probably just wait till after college. There is no reason to stretch your budget so thin just for a car.

Plus, if you've got ~$1k in the leisure fund, and only saving $10-$20 a paycheck, it'll take a while to even get to $5k or whatever some of the other places charge.

Could anyone give me an estimate on how much a NA EJ25 (2.5RS) swap would run me?

My other question is:

Does any of this stuff worthwhile to by and drop onto my ride?

Thanks

I have no clue. I was looking online at some of the stuff 1SIKBRU listed. I am thinking the headers and underdrive pulley would be a good way to start. And maybe even the strut braces. Even though the Borla headers are exclusively for 2.2L, I don't see myself doing an engine swap until later (way later) down the road. Let me know what you guys think.

I checked H&R's website for the application, and it seems that they both use the same parts. I am not really sure, but it was easy enough to check.

IMO its not worth the hassle/money to do a swap from a NA 2.2L to an NA 2.5L...WASTE 'O MONEY!!! just save for a wrx swap if u really want to

That's right. YOU ARE UNIQUE!!! haha.

Yeah... that's one of the reasons why I don't want to let go of my "L." It is like owning a vintage car....
