Monday full of questions
Subaru, you 'tarded. How do you engineer an axle that you CANNOT replace an outer boot on? I mean..........that's just insanely stupid.
So my solution, pull the boot off a spare toyota axle, which ended up being the exact same size and fit perfect.
Thanks Toyota, for fixing subaru's stupid problems.

I think it was from a prius HAHAHA. I'll have to check. It was just a spare axle we had laying around the shop.
If you guys want the easi(er) route, just take yours off, go to parts store and match sizes. I'm sure there are hundreds of cars out there with similar/same boots.
My theory for why they did it so dumb is this: they were too lazy to design the axle to come apart on the outside (the circlip simply does not come out unless you want to demolish it), so to replace the outer boot, you gotta remove the inner, remove the bearings and sprocket, slide everything off, ONLY THEN can you replace the outer boot, sliding off/on from the inside.
Really dumb, I know, but that's subaru for ya.
