That REF sticker pays its weight in platnium.
As long as your car passes the actual test there's no problem....and there shouldn't be an issue anyway...let's get real here the only reason for the visual is to justify having the fix any potential issue....i.e. it's the way for the State to generate Revenue. As far was we and the government should be concerned, as long as the vehicle passes mandated emmisions levels and is "mechanically" safe to drive, it should be allowed to pass. But we live in a country and especially a State where any way to squeeze money out of the people is a good thing, reguardless of legality or justification. My conversion has some mods to it....and it's still cleaner running then most new cars bar none (both physically and pollution wise). I am legal because I have done my homework and spent the money to make sure it passes. I hate having to play this game with CARB and wish it would be as straight forward as it should be. SMOG & emmisions control was designed to protect the enviroment.....if we as auto enthusist wish to improve our vehicles above the "bean-counting" controlled OEM levels...AND do so within the mandated emmissions levels....we should be allowed to do so. The outcome should outweigh the means.
I have stepped off the soapbox.

Just FYI, though, while I understand the reasoning for it, I've never done it and it is super illegal. You might want to avoid talking about it (admitting your guilt) on a public forum
