Question Insurance

Alright we all know that Subaru's can be expensive to insure, and also since times are tough everyone is trying to save money any way they can. I have been thinking about changing who I get insurance with to try and save some money, but I am having second guesses on actually doing it. I am just afraid that if I go to a cheaper insurance company, I'm not going to get as good quality as I have now. Currently I am with State Farm and have been with them since I started driving 8 years ago. Anytime I have had to make a claim or anything, it was all hassle free and no questions asked.

So I was wondering who do you guys get your insurance with. You don't need to say how much you pay, but maybe just the pro's and con's of them. I am not looking to go to the real cheap companies just another one if the difference in the amount I pay is a good amount.

Any pointers or feedback would help.

Thanks

I have State Farm. They tend to give good rates for people that have a clean record and 10+ years of driving experience.

I have loyalty and multi-line discounts because I have coverage for my WRX, pickup truck, motorcycle, renters, and earthquake.

I recently got an online quote from Geico. It was slightly cheaper for the WRX but no enough to justify switching everything over.

But State Farm does "nickle and dime" you for moving. The change from Fremont 94536 to Union City 94587 cost an extra $37. Apparently they see Union City as slightly more shady than Fremont...

I have Mercury and it is pretty good and cheap for me, I'm 21 years old but have a clean record. They just fail at notify your lien holder that you have insurance though... But if you have multiple polices it helps, I only have to pay 10$ a year for renters insurance since i save 10% off my car insurance for having multiple polices.

However, I've heard state farm is cheap and good if you have 10-15years + of driving experience.

I've been with Geico for nearly 10 years. Wife's been in several accidents...seems like everyone like hitting her car's rear (i know i know, the irony).

Each time, no hassle, easy to work with. Car has been taken care of each time. friendly and available to reach by phone or internet. Prompt either eay.

+ Geico has the usual multiple discounts...clean record, long time driver, multiple car, even a professional discount (wife is CPA).

Cool, thank you guys for all your help. I've looked into Mercury and they would save me about $150 a month, everywhere else is close to what I'm paying now. I think the best bet it to just stay with State Farm, and in a few months i'll be 25 so they said my rates would drop even more.

i use state farm for auto, home, flood and life as well as an umbrella policy. paying for everything out of pocket (no home insurance from impound) costs me 5k a year.

Auto: 600/900/300
home: structure and contents, 300k for structure and 100k for contents
Flood: same
life: 200 (i get more through work so i keep a smaller policy)

I work in the insurance business and State farm isn't the only company that "nickels and dimes" you. All insurances companies change rates the second that the zipcode changes. doesn't matter if you move down a block or to the other side of the state.as long as the zip changes the price changes.

On a seperate note, I work for Farmers and if you have any questions and concerns or just want to check out different rates you can pm me.
