I'm also glad I never replaced the subframe with one of those Cusco/Do-Luck/GTSpec subframes. I oculd have had the same issue there.

I have a stock bumper beam laying around if they haven't boughten it yet... your insurance is paying for it so i don't think it will matter, but i can give it to you for basically free
