well it also depends upon what dsl package you have....and the distance you live from the CO...the further you live away from the CO the crappier the speeds..personally i dont live that far from the CO so my 3mb is very nice, i top out at 290-300kb/s and iirc my upload is 256k up(50kb/s max)

pays for 1.5m.. gets 384k ... even if he is too far from the CO, there is a problem. PacBell cuts DSL distance down to 14k feet from the standard 18.5k

there is no way pac bell will sell DSL service to someone thats too far away for the guaranteed speeds

like i said...even if you pay for that service you may be far enough from the CO where the speeds would cut down...best thing to do is see if a neighbor has dsl and if they get the full speed out of their package whether its 1.5mb or 3mb if they are well then sbc is bending u over and u need to address it with them...if theyre having the same issue well they may be a little far from the CO...only thing to do is call up sbc. ive never had an issue with them and theyve always been very nice when ive had to call to change my plan when i found a cheaper one from them, i gotta call them up again about it since now their new promo is 17.99/mo for 12mo for 3mb dsl, and our contract is over anyways...been with them for 3-4yrs and not an issue so far

You missed his point dude... if SBC thinks you are too far from the CO to get the advertised rate, they won't sell you DSL in the first place. There is an error somewhere in the physical connections or something that they need to fix.

 

exactly.. if pac bell sells you the DSL they better give you the speeds that you are paying for or they need to fix their broke *** ****
