no, they are around the 80% level. When I was getting the window fixed on the sentra, they had a bunch of propaganda at the tint shop.

they have a specific tint level for the front windows that when combined with the factory tint on the windows, will bring it to 70%

The tint by itself has to be a minimum of 88% VLT. Then combined with the glass it must be at least 70% VLT. You can't just put on material that is 70% VLT.....legally.

This only applies to the forward side windows and not windshields.

(2) The window glazing with the material applied meets all requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 205 (49 C.F.R. 571.205), including the specified minimum light transmittance of 70 percent and the abrasion resistance of AS-14 glazing, as specified in that federal standard.

(3) The material is designed and manufactured to enhance the ability of the existing window glass to block the sun's harmful ultraviolet A rays.

i suppose you could say you have very sensitive vision -- if you wear glasses, or have ever worn glasses, and that you needed a higher tint to protect your eyes...

or that weird problem ppl have that they are allergic to sun..

You can get darker tint but you need some note or something and you can only drive during the day.
