Truth. This is an even worse idea. You're breaking in a fresh motor/setup, you want to be varying RPM's and load constantly. Plus, you're away from your local shop/builder/tuner if any issues come up, questions, etc. Much better to do a breakin close to home with a modded car. I don't like getting more than about 100 miles away from anywhere on a fresh motor, especially a replacement - and it's not coincidental that my tow radius is 100 miles

Its definitely not worth it to get a full out tune if you're only going to use it for two weeks. Why not ask your tuner to give you a nice safe limp map to use while you're down here?

The motor is past its break in period, and its has been tuned for E85/91 already. The reason I want to drive the car to cali is because the motor went in NOV 09 and didnt get rebuilt till NOV 10. I was home on leave for 2 weeks when I rebuilt the car with the help of a local shop. Now since im back over here my wife has been taking care of the car since. When I get back home In July it will have been close to a 1 year and 9 months since I have really driven the car... I would like to take it on this road trip to enjoy it again... Esp after the bull **** I went through this deployment...

Why not get a tune that is complete and able to compensate for the changes in barometric pressure like it's supposed too?
