Hey,

I'm going to be heading back to Sacramento this summer after I return from my deployment to visit my parents. Normally I would just fly out there, but this time I am going to be driving my 2007 STI back... Now, I live in Colorado and I know that I'm going to need to get a retune done on the car. I'm wondering where would be a good place to take my car to get a tune done in the area. Also, my car is catless and is by far from CARB friendly... I know when I left in 2005 I was having issues left and right with the elk grove pd when I drove my Honda around. Is the CHP Sacramento/Elk Grove PD still dicks about modified cars? Any advice would be helpful... I should be in the area for 2 weeks.

Elk Grove PD is worse than ever. CHP/SacPD is probly about as bad as you remember. I hear good things about Ed at EQ Tuning in Fairfield as far as area tuners. GL man.

Yeah I sent them an email about cost of tuning and what not. I just dont want to get stopped at every light for having to loud of an exhaust, this, that or the other thing... I have out state plates so that might help me out a bit... Im also glad I hit the post thread button 5 time... ughhh

I don't know about elk grove cops but sac.Pd isn't bad. Ever since I had my wrx I haven't gotten pulled over once for modified exhaust or stuff like that, I even have the cutout open at times...don't be scared. Don't drive like doushe and they won't bother u...just make sure u don't drink and drive cause they got check points like crazy nowadays, and as for a tune...I got mine at GST and they were great. I also heard good things about EQ and DB...but it's all peoples opinions...do ur research and go with the one u like or feel comfortable with...good luck and hopefully I'll see u around!

 

Never had an issue with any Elk Grove cops... Sac cops pulled me over 3 times on the same day for the same exact issue with my car. Not sure what the deal was that day, but usually their not to bad

IC a 3.5" APS exhaust, have one myself! Been pulled over several times, next time they told me I'm going to a Ref. Only reason they let me go because my engine bay looks stock. Had me pop my hood both times. Had my car 4 years and only 4,200 miles on the car, i dont drive it much and been pulled over 2 times now! Working on a exhaust cutout with FLI right now.......

 

Well here is the thing though, how can they send me to a ref when Im a visitor from another state? Well I guess we shall see... When I come back I might have to see if a meet is going on.

Truth.
Keep your head on a swivel and be aware of your surroundings. Treat every car as a cop until you are sure it's not. If you do get pulled over don't act like a punk. Pretend to be respectful. If you get a ticket you deserved it.

 

i haven't ever been hassled by the cops and i still havent put last years reg sticker on my car...

generally, if you drive like a dick you'll get hassled by the cops. go with the flow and they have much juicier targets like hot soccer moms in AMGs
