update #2:

still no working phone from cingular... i spoke with someone in their "resolutions" department yesterday (yay, i'm officially classified as an unsatisfied customer) and was assured that i'll be receiving a phone on Thursday at the latest. and they're going to upgrade it since the one that was supposed to be shipped never really got shipped and is on backorder.

as for migrating then cancelling... i tried to cancel yesterday and was informed that former ATT customers will then be subject to the cancellation terms and conditions of the original ATT contract or can re-activate their ATT service. so, i'm stuck with these ****** for a while.

on a positive note, i did find out that because i'm a "business customer" or some bs like that, i get a hefty discount at cingular owned and operated stores and kiosks. so pretty much i can get whatever phone i want, whenever i want, for less then even a new customer pays

except for the RAZR since retail on that is ungodly high

I'm dumping my sprint account. They're going to charge me .50/min. roaming when i go to up to idaho. asses. My parents have cingular, so in the interest of saving money I'm going to jump on their account. My dad will get to deal with cs, so I'm in the clear.
I think I'm going to get a razr. Those things rawk!

So in a nutshell, if I signed a "You will be with us for a year!" contract last july with AT&T can I get the hell out now, or do I have to wait till July? Work has agreed to buy me a new blackberry and service so I want the hell off the boat.

I have a long history of dissatisfy services with Cingular.. I would highly recommend anyone to stay away from them. Their reception might be better than Tmo in some areas but it's really not worth it.

They charge so much for tax that you never even hear of and their customer service sux big time. Everytime I call they always jump to conclusion that you are wrong. Seriousily they do that. I have a long term of billing dispute that I have to call every single month to resolve.

Times when I have to speak with their manager. They all have attitude problems.

They canceled features from me and tried to charge me money for it. Their billing system is set up to rip you off.

I can write a ten page essay on how crappy the company is. Everytime I call in I have to yell and swear at them for hours untill they can resolve the problems for me.. I got fed up and switched..

final update:

RussB +1, Cingular -eleventybillion

step 1: russ gets phone delivered at work today, samsung e317. looks decent enough.

step 2: russ looks at receipt. wow, they charged close to retail and charged it to my first bill. what's that at the bottom though? the full ammount credited to my first bill? thanks guys

step 3: russ calls a close by cingular store, asks if he can get his employee discount there. I can? SWEET!!!1!

step 4: russ get's a discount off retail, and the price of an essentially free phone deducted from that. feeling pretty good, like i finally won...

step 5: hello moto
